G2 dominates Virtus.pro; both qualify for Salt Lake City
G2 secured a convincing 2-0 victory over Virtus.pro in the EU MENA 2026 Kickoff tournament on April 16, powered by standout performances from Stompn and Shaiiko.
The series saw G2 control both maps, winning Club House 7-5 and Lair 7-3 to close out the match without dropping a game.
Stompn and Shaiiko Lead the Charge
Stompn was the undeniable player of the match, posting a series-high 23 kills against just 13 deaths for a +10 K-D difference and a stellar 1.31 rating. He also led all players in kills per round (1.05) and survival rate (40%).
Not to be outdone, Shaiiko matched Stompn's intensity with a 1.32 rating – the highest in the match – recording 21 kills, 15 deaths, and two plants. Doki also contributed significantly, going +4 in the entry duel category.
Virtus.pro Struggle to Find Answers
Virtus.pro's roster found little room to operate against G2's firepower. SkyZs was the bright spot for his squad, earning a 1.15 rating with 21 kills and a +3 K-D difference. Nayqo also performed admirably with a 1.13 rating.
However, the rest of the Virtus.pro lineup struggled. Dan finished with a 0.72 rating and a -7 K-D difference, while p4sh4 had a particularly difficult match, managing only seven kills against 18 deaths for a 0.52 rating – the lowest of any player in the series.
Both Teams Qualify for Salt Lake City Major
Despite the loss, Virtus.pro still secured their place at the Salt Lake City Major alongside G2. Both organizations will represent the EU MENA region at the upcoming international event, where they will face off against the world's best.
The match served as a high-level tune-up for both squads ahead of the major, with G2 sending a warning shot to the competition while Virtus.pro look to bounce back on the global stage.
